Hi all, I’m excited to share some cover designs for two new books in the works. Let me know your thoughts!
The difference between the first two is subtle. We have two slightly different fonts for the title, and there is a slight difference to the spacing between the letters. The authors liked the serif font but asked for the title to take up less space, and for it to be right-justified. The cover on the far right reflects those modifications. What do you think? Which appeals to you most and why?
So here I was playing with fonts, stroke/chisel effects and then with cast shadows below the fonts. Unfortunately, the client is not keen on my concept of keeping it simple with just a high-res image of plywood in the background so the end result will probably look vastly different. But just wanted to hear your thoughts/preferences if any of these appeal to you, and why. It’s always better to not design in a vacuum!
Do you need help with your cover design or layout for a print or eBook? If so, please get in touch! I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for sharing your great designs. Looks awesome!
Just an idea for experiment: how about making the font part of the environment? For example, Shredding Plywood could become chiseled in the wood.Or Dark Sky Preserve part of the nature elements, the font so dark or alive gives you goosebumps.
I like the right justified for a,Dark Sky Preserve, because it feels like your looking deeper into the sky. I also like the striated white font for, Shredding Plywood. Itβs very unique and jumps out from the shelf. I would pick it up!
